Celebrating Languages Week

Learning a language is now more important than ever and at the end of last term we celebrated Languages Week, with students having the opportunity to take part in quizzes and games, and learning how to say ‘hello’ in a variety of languages.  There are so many benefits of learning a language and some researchers have concluded that the strongest of these is the personal benefit and enjoyment to be gained.

During the week we had the privilege to welcome back alumni Ben Christy (class of 2017) who spoke at our College Assembly about how learning Spanish through to Year 13 has benefited him. Ben is currently studying a conjoint degree in Law and Global Studies with Spanish. He shared his experience of studying abroad in Paris for a semester and how his knowledge of languages has opened so many  opportunities. It was a pleasure to have Ben back to inspire our students.
