Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Tramps

This term another group of intrepid students have been training and practising for their Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Tramp. The team set off on their practice in the Kaimai Mamaku Forest Park. The first day had the students navigating along a stream track which involved many crossings. There were also many challenging hills which they conquered. They camped at Waitewheta hut where they happily assisted the Department of Conservation Warden with stacking logs. The tramp gave the team an opportunity to work on their team building and navigation skills as well as testing out their camp cooking. They demonstrated excellent teamwork and had a lot of enthusiasm. They are now all set to be assessed on their Qualifying Journey at the very end of the term in the Kauaeranga Valley in the Coromandel.
