Senior Preschool

  • Holiday Program

The children in senior preschool have been enjoying a range of activities during the term break. Each day the children got to experience a fun-filled activity such as baking, dressing up in their favourite costumes, picnic, and treasure hunt to name a few. Holiday programs are beneficial for your child because it allows them to refresh and recharge themselves for the next term. Doing things out of routine helps build resilience and the ability to adapt to changes.

  • Our focus: Benefits of Music in Child Development

When you think of children taking part in music and movement, you may think of children running around singing at the top of their lungs or banging noisily on an instrument. Many people do not realize that just like math, science, reading, or writing, music and movement play an important role in a child’s development and have many benefits.

We have music and movement as part of our curriculum in senior preschool and the children get to enjoy various musical activities and games daily.

Children naturally enjoy music and will begin reacting to music at an early age. Music and movement activities enable children to have fun, be creative and dance around and burn off some energy. When children participate in music and movement activities in a group, they also develop and refine their social skills, work as a team, share, and they learn how to be creative in a group environment.

Some benefits of music and movement include:

  • Developing fine motor skills.
  • Developing gross motor skills.
  • Learning to express emotions.
  • Improving balance and coordination.

Children enjoy singing just to be singing. They aren’t self-conscious about their ability and most are eager to let their voices roar. They like songs that repeat words and melodies, use rhythms with a definite beat, and ask them to do things.

  • Project Work

We are continuing with learning about bugs and insects as part of our project topic and would love to hear your feedback about your child/children’s interests and discussions at home regarding this topic.
